Ruin Russian Orthodox churches series: Novinki - church of Peter and Paul

Evdokim Petrov

Russia had very hard policy against clerical and religion in general back in late 1950th and earlier 1960th, during Cruchev era. Many temples in small Russian cities and villages were closed and simply abandoned.

In this small article we are showing you the church on the first Volga river large lake - Sterzh.

This church was built in 1807-1822 in late barocco and early neo classicism. Probably you can say, that what is the difference - large number of churches in Russia were abandoned and now destroyed by time.

Well, time is coming back and majority of the temples in Moscow region are now restored or simply been rebuilt from scratch or by putting together remaining parts and building the rest on this foundation

We hope that Novinki will get the attention and funds from religious people in Russia and probably Christian Orthodox people in the World

Please, see the photo of the church as it exists in December 2007
