Russian Orthodox Ruin Churches: church of Trinity - Troitsa-na-Perevoloke

Evdokim Petrov

This church was closed in World War II time and since then it was slowly ruining. The interesting fact about this specific church on the lake Seliger in Tver oblast is that it is one of the earlier examples of going Barocco style and coming Russian classicism, which was seen in the Dome of the Chris the Saver in Moscow, for example

This church was built between 1830 and 1852, when it was opened. Maybe style was changing as church was in construction over this long period of time, when builders were waiting funds to be collected and provided by future churchgoers

It is located on the lake peninsula Koroviy, meaning caw peninsula in Russian

Church could be seen if you are moving into Berezovsky ples (lake gulf) of Seliger by the water - on the ship or boat.

To visit this church you should drive to Ostashkov, which is accessible by train from Moscow or St. Petersburg, then either go by boat (might be too long as powerful boats are prohibited on the lake Seliger). Alternative - drive on the highway from Ostashkov to Volgoverkhovie and turn to either Neprie or New Yealti, then cross the lake Seliger on the boat, it should be several kilometers
