Church in the village of Luzhki on Istra river bank - Russian churches series
 Evdokim Petrov
This church was really resurrected from the ashes, as we remember ourselves doing kayaking on the Istra river, very close to Moscow and Krasnogorsk in late 1970th and seeing this church in very bad shape. It is standing on the very high and sharp bank of the river Istra between the city of Istra and Pavlovskaya Sloboda. Please see recent city of this church, unfortunately it is very hard to publish its photo of how it was looking back in about 12 years ago, when it was in not to say in ruins, but close to it This church was built in earlier part of XIX century and had multiple scenes in our childhood recollection, when river Istra was extremely popular as baidarka water route
How to reach Luzhki village from Moscow. You can take either Volokolamskoye shosse or Moscow-Riga highway and exit to Moscow second circle or so called Betonka. From Volokolamskoye shosse go south several kilometers and then go back east - you will see Luzhki view from the southern bank of Istra - Luzhki are locaked on the northern bank, but the panoramic view is probably the best from the southern bank when country road suddenly opens you the Luzhki panorama
