ERP from Scratch - SAP Business One or Microsoft Dynamics GP Small Business Financials

Andrew Karasev

ERP selection is not an easy one, and we respect your search in the internet to get this article pulled out from google web search. More likely you are entrepreneur or business owner and you are facing MRP selection decision. This is very natural, if you outgrow small business accounting packages, such as MYOB, Peachtree, or Quickbooks. Next step is to select next package. First, try to set up criteria or what you really expect from the next ERP product. What is really lacking in your microbusiness accounting system you currently use? Additional highlights:

1. SAP B1. This application is very modern and fits to small and small-to-midsize businesses. If your accounting department has 5+ people, you should understand SB1 limitations - lack of batch document saving and batch processing, meaning that when you save Invoice in SBO - it is in CPA terms is posted to your General Ledger (GL). SAP Business One is growing its customers base in US and Canada, plus it is very popular internationally - it supports multi-language and multicurrency and localized in the sense of taxation in various countries, especially in Latin America

2. Microsoft Dynamics GP Great Plains and Small Business Financials. SBF uses the same code base as GP and it is in fact scaled down GP version. If you like to be in Microsoft Corporation technologies mainstream, you should review Small Business Financials. It is using scaled down GP Sales Order Processing (SOP) module as the SBF sales feature

3. Migrating to new ERP. Both GP and SB1 have migration tools. SB1 offers wizard, while GP has Integration Manager.
