Australian Visa Assessment legislation to be improved
Dylan Lautner
September 2009, an issues paper of Australian working Visa and Australian Student Visa legislation has been released, identifying key areas the Government should improve. Submissions are now release to a reassess on the Australian Visa Assessment legislation.
The issues paper, part of a full review commissioned last month by the Australian Government and headed by former Liberal MP Bruce Baird, identified key areas in the education system and the experiences for international students studying in Australia with an Australian Student Visa.
The Australian has called for submissions in reply to the issues paper to get together contribution from international employees and students currently on an Australian working visa and student visa or those planning to work and study in Australia as well as other stakeholders, on what is working and what could be improved to support Australia's international business sections.
"This review is an opportunity for the sector to take stock, look at what is working, what could be improved," Mr Baird said.
Australian Deputy Prime Minister and Education Minister Julia Gillard welcome the release of the issues paper and give confidence all stakeholders to read it and make submissions. The complete marks of the review are expected in early 2010.
