Guidance on citizenship and Australian visa issues

Dylan Lautner

Global visas recently said that Australia's Department of Immigration and Citizenship will provide an advice in regards with the visa issues.

They will assist Residents in the Bathurst area of New South Wales and on Wednesday (16th December), officers from the Australian Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) will go and set an appointment to the region to provide face-to-face advice on issues as well as citizenship, working visas and visas for family members.

A DIAC spokesperson explained that, while the immigration department provides "a great deal of information" over the phone and the internet, many people may not be aware of recent policy changes or they may prefer to speak to officers in person.

Recent DIAC figures highlighted that, along with Victoria, New South Wales became home to the mainstream of Australia's skilled migrant arrivals in 2008-09. Of the 69,456 skilled migrants who came to Australia during the period, a total of 19,071 settled in New South Wales.

"Our visits attract a range of people - from community groups and small business owners to farmers and students and individuals - who might want specific information or just someone to talk them through a complex matter," the representative added.

From 10.30am until 3pm the Immigration advisers will be at Bathurst Information and Community.
