  Print media against free online classifieds

Since New York Times will begin charging for access to its web site, these just show that it might be a hard time for the online classifieds this year. Print media and newspaper however are still in the market but nor as increasing as the free online classifieds. Newspapers, for the most part the large urban ones, are struggling on many fronts. As the people nowadays are more into checking everything from the internet.

Online classifieds ads have been more popular to every business small or big. Though only a few papers, including Newsday, have walled off their sites, almost all series has talked about it. Report stated recently that Times will become the largest paper to go from free to pay and the Wall Street Journal, which has always asked for fee for reading the content.

John Morton, newspaper analyst and president of Morton Research, talks to Media Life about the assurance of paywalls, the industry's circ woes and how layoffs might give dents to the industry.
